Heat coconut oil in a large pan and fry the cardamom for 3 seconds, don't let it smoke. Add onion and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add shredded cabbage and cook for 3 minutes. Add apples and a splash of cider vinegar. Add about 1/2 cup of water to steam the cabbage. Cover and steam for 15 minutes or until just barely done, checking to make sure it's not dry. Balance the flavor with cider vinegar, salt and pepper to taste. Serve warm.
